Famous Jewelry Cleaner

1 ounce lump of borax
1 pint water
1/2 ounce washing soda
2 1/2 ounces liquid ammonia
1/2 ounce finely shaved castile soap

Mix borax, washing soda, castile soap and water and boil in an enameled pot until all the ingredients are dissolved. When partially cooled, stir in liquid ammonia and add enough water to make 2 quarts.

Place jewelry in this mixture. Brush well. Rinse in very hot water and dry carefully.
